We carry the Ecocern range of envelopes, folders and paper rolls, the AusPen range of refillable white board markers and the Ecopaper range of stationery.
Great local initiatives in reuse and recycling – Ecocern is using standard recycled cardboard to make over 50 product lines while AusPen offers a product which can be reused (by refilling with ink) over 40 times saving tonnes of markers going prematurely to landfill. Ecopaper uses recycled paper, plantation timbers and corn starch based plastics to make a vareity of writing implements and other stationery items.
SCRAP tries to bring you the best available options in paper choices.
While we would like to offer Australian papers only one company makes standard recycled copy paper locally which people commonly know as Reflex. This company is now owned by Nippon Paper which continues to log old growth forests both here and across the Asia/Pacific regions. Consequently SCRAP refuses to carry the recycled lines that this company produces and we support “Taking the Pledge” with The Wilderness Society in their campaign to avoid purchasing from such paper companies, while they maintain unsustainable practices.
One small Australian company trying to do the right thing is Ecocern and they make a range of 100% post consumer, recycled brown paper products including 115gsm and 310gsm A4, A3 and A2 paper, card, folders, envelopes and bags (see our Stationery and Bags, Buckets & Boxes categories for more details). Included here are the paper options. We find the paper works in most modern machines but it is not guaranteed for printing.
Due to this limited choice locally we also offer the best we can find from Europe. In the 100% recycled category is Steinbeis Evolution, Steinbeis Trend (NEW), Evolve Everyday and NEW from France the Evercopy Prestige. None of these papers are guaranteed to be 100% “post consumer” content but all are 100% “recovered fibre” in accordance with European standards. Evercopy Prestige 100gsm replaces the Evolve Business 100gsm which we can longer obtain. Steinbeis also provide A3 Evolution and colour (x 10) A4 options, while Evolve is only available in A3 Everyday. The Evercopy is very reasonably priced and considerably cheaper than the other two brands. Steinbeis Trend is our latest 100% recycled copy paper. It is oxygen bleached, off white (better for the 20% of the population who suffer some form of dyslexia) and remarkably cheap at under $5 per ream. The Trend and Evercopy Prestige A4 lines are currently on SPECIAL.
New among our lines are the FSC certified Trophee coloured paper (24) options in three weights (80,120 and 160gsm) from Clairefontaine (France). We are still carrying range of recycled coloured paper from Steinbeis though the local supply is drying up and there are fewer options for continued import.
Not advertised but still available POA are a range of recycled papers for specialist purposes including Cyclus 100% post consumer stock for printers such as Print Matt and Gloss which come in various weights from 80 up to 300gsm. Call us for your specific printing needs and keep it green.
